Ink-painting

Ink painting (also called “Chinese Watercolour”, “Sumi-e” or “Sumukhwa” …etc.) is very popular in Asia for more than a thousand years. Many masters and styles of painting emerged and it continues to grow globally today. It is an Art form that is unique where calligraphy is taken as the foundation in contrast to the Western Tradition where drawing is the foundation instead. After having mastered the basics, an Artist could continue to pursue the Art in more depth or attempt to adapt what they have learned into their own original creation. The skills one learned in Ink painting could be used as a form of relaxation, children art, craft or serious production of original art.

Our classes begin with emphasis on the introduction of solid skills based on a proven traditional approach of teaching-and-learning. However, we are not limited by tradition and adjustments were made so that there is no pre-requisite of knowing the Chinese Language or Calligraphy as it would had been assumed in traditional context.
